La Sardinada is Back!
27.6.18

Summer is here and with it comes La Sardinada 2, next Saturday, June 30th, starting at 11:30 AM in the
U.D. Gornal football field
. We’re celebrating a second edition of the meeting of former residents of the old neighborhoods of Can Pi, La Bomba, and La Cadena, first held on July 2nd of last year (you can see a small photo report here), which was attended by nearly 100 people.

Like the previous edition, La Sardinada 2 will be a festive event to reunite for eating, drinking, conversation, and remembering together, but also a space to continue the work that we have been developing for the past three years with a group of residents from these old neighborhoods in the
History Workshop
of the Center for the Interpretation of the City from the Shack. We will be showing part of the photographic archive that has been collected during this time and how it is organized; copies of the CICdB newsletters will be distributed, of which three issues have been published to date (no. 0, nos. 1 and 2) with life stories of residents of La Bomba; we will continue working on the map of La Bomba; and we will have the microphones of our mobile radio set open. In addition, as a novelty, we will present three new initiatives from the CICdB’s driving group:

1. The preparation of an exhibition about the shantytowns of Gran Via Sud in the
Museu d’Història de L’Hospitalet
, scheduled for the end of the year.
2. The project for the future installation of a (functional) water pump on the Gran Via as a monument to the inhabitants of La Bomba.
3. The self-construction project of the shack, the future headquarters of the CICdB.

La Sardinada is an important moment of meeting and exhibition, but only a moment in a long and constant (and very rewarding) work process that has been developing, as we said, during the last three years and to which we frankly encourage you to join.

See you at La Sardinada 2!
