Presentation of the New CICdB Newsletters
23.12.22

The CICdB newsletters are small, daily publications in which former residents of the disappeared shantytowns of l’Hospitalet write about that historical moment from their experience and memories. The initiative arises from the CICdB History Workshop that we have been promoting since 2015 in the neighborhoods of Bellvitge and Gornal, where many of the former inhabitants of neighborhoods such as La Bomba, La Cadena, Can Pi, or La Sangonera currently reside.

Number 5 is written by Miguel and Carmen Frit and tells us about life in La Bomba for the Morales Gonzálvez, Frit Hernández, and Frit Morales families. Number 6 includes an interview with Mercedes Gómez Cortés in which she talks about her family and the life of the Roma community in La Cadena. María Dolores González Gómez was also a resident of La Bomba and explains the history of her family in the neighborhood in number 7 of the collection. Finally, with number 8, we are launching a new line of research, paying attention to the old farmhouses, also disappeared, that could be found in the fields in which the informal settlements were installed and with which they coexisted during a historical period. On this occasion, Emilia López Campreciós explains what life was like in the Cal Bielet del Garro farmhouse, located in what is now the Rambla Marina, very close to Avinguda Carrilet.

We look forward to sharing this presentation with its authors and protagonists.
