Next Friday, September 15th, starting at 6:30 PM in the Chillout Room of the
Bellvitge Library
, we will have the pleasure of presenting two new issues of the newsletters from the
Center for the Interpretation of the City from the Shack
(CICdB). In addition to its authors: Antonio Villegas, Juani Ruiz and Joan Milà, former residents of the La Bomba neighborhood, we will be joined by a special guest:
Mercè Tatjer
, a renowned geographer and urban historian, who has supported and promoted the citizen initiative to recover the memory of the shantytowns in the city of Barcelona.
We invite you to attend the presentation because, in addition to being an opportunity to learn about this often-forgotten part of the history of L’Hospitalet and the urban peripheries in general, and a reason for the reunion of former neighbors, we hope it will also be an opportunity to discuss and promote the recognition and activation of that memory in the present.
The CICdB newsletters are part of the results of the
History Workshop
that has been held weekly in different facilities in
Gornal and
Bellvitge. With a monographic character, the three issues published to date collect life stories of former residents of La Bomba. The workshop is open to all those people who lived in the so-called
shantytowns of L’Hospitalet, not only in La Bomba, or who are interested in them; so, if you have an idea for future issues of the newsletters, you just have to come to the workshop —which we will resume soon every Thursday afternoon at the
Bellvitge-Gornal Cultural Center— and share it 😉
In addition, the presentation coincides with the Bellvitge festivities, so one more reason to come! We are waiting for you!
