Next Friday, February 27th at 8:00 PM, the exhibition that gathers the development of
Intruder Zone 2
, the project in which we have been working with Oriol Fontdevila since last summer, opens at the
Espai f
in Mataró.
The exhibition is not a sample of the works carried out by the students of the secondary education institutes of Mataró, or not only that; rather, the exhibition wants to delve into the questions raised and debated with students and teachers, and expand the discourse that has been collectively generated during the activities in the classrooms, the workshops with teachers, students and artists, during the visits to the traveling exhibition, in the Intruder Zone 2 wiki or in the activities carried out by students and teachers as a result of their participation in the project.
We would like to be able to say that we have been able to present Intruder Zone 2 as a conversation between individuals (and institutions) that occupy diverse positions in the cultural sphere, both in the artistic and educational context. In this sense, it seems quite clear to us that the exhibition at Espai f would also be something like the count and the intertwined narration, complementary and contradictory at times, of what has been said up to this moment. Not in vain, the design of the exhibition has also been a process open to the contributions of teachers and students that will continue beyond the opening date.
For all this, it is difficult for us to explain in a concrete way what Intruder Zone 2 has been, perhaps an attempt to de-sediment some of the respective assumptions that usually and inadvertently condition the actions of each of the agents involved in bringing art closer to the educational context.
But perhaps the best thing is for everyone to draw their own conclusions next Friday at the opening of the exhibition, which will surely be, like any self-respecting opening, a social and recognition event and we also hope, an opportunity to continue the conversation.
In any case, Intruder Zone 2 will not end here since Espai f itself will be the setting for a day of debate on April 18 in which curators, educators, students, teachers, artists, culture technicians will participate… all together one more time! But we will give due account of that here in due course.
