Zehar recently presented its 60/61 issue, double and special, entitled The Open School. This issue is part of Zehar’s contribution to Documenta 12 Magazines, the unmanageable macro-editorial project of ‘the’ contemporary art exhibition. Among the topics of discussion proposed by Roger M. Buergel and company, we find that of ‘Education’. Since the magazine Zehar is related to a center dedicated, among other things, to artistic training such as Arteleku, it seems logical that the editors opted for Education (The Local Institution), from among the topics proposed by the organization of Documenta 12 for reflection. The “desire” of the magazine is, as Miren Eraso tells us in the editorial: “to open the magazine to all those people who in recent years have collaborated in Zehar and have a relationship with education, and on the other hand, the intention to create a discussion platform that we hope will have a multiplying effect.” Beyond this organizational issue, the publication has the will to promote a type of learning called “école mutuelle“, “an educational project based on collaboration between different people and mutual help.”
But perhaps the most interesting thing at this point is that, also as part of its contribution to Documenta 12 Magazines, Zehar has opened an online forum in Spanish, in which, upon subscription, you can/we can contribute by exposing our opinions, practices and speeches… let’s see what it yields, it will be open until the end of the month.
