I wonder how metal, which for a long time has been considered one of the most brainless musical styles among those that young people like to listen to, has become part of the musical avant-garde, of the “advanced musics”, as the Sonar people say. But it is so, giving a turn with a double somersault included on itself, heavy has become, in a certain way, meta and has stopped referring candidly to a macho-centric and boorish mythology to refer… to itself!. Along the way, heavy (this heavy) has lost part of its ‘class consciousness’ and I even dare to affirm, for the glory of Eddie, that heavy will be modern or it will not be. Of course everything is still very ‘hardcore’ and very ‘extreme’ and our ears will suffer a lot, which is what’s cool, but something has changed. All this would give much to talk about, as well as establishing a genealogy of the umpteenth incarnation of metal, and this is intended to be a simple announcement, so I will not elaborate. And the next Saturday, July 21 in the Apolo’s Hall 2 we can listen to Todd, Shit and Shine and Bèstia Ferida (Adrián De Alfonso & Arnau Sala, formerly known as DNSR/TRN), three very clear examples of what I am saying, on the occasion of the 4.5 delivery of the Pocketclub Festival. By the way, is it a false impression of mine or has this festival not received all the attention it deserves?
