Let’s Go to the Beach with Azul Blaseotto

We repeat the international summer residency in the physical space of LaFundició at Prado 11.

 

In the summer of 2017 we received Daniela Pizarro, from the Chilean collective
Nido Textil
, and the filmmaking collective
Diarios de Guerra
(formed by María Contreras and Daniel Ortega, also from Chile).

 

This year Azul Blaseotto, artist and member of
La Dársena
, a platform for thought and artistic interaction located in Buenos Aires (Argentina), will join us for a few days. 

 

Between July 16 and 20, Azul proposes that we go to the beach and create a collective fanzine.
Vamos a la playa
is the title of her latest graphic novel, in which she reflects on «the infrastructures, social formations, political strategies and economic models that construct that territory and landscape today called “beach”». In our context, the beach is inextricably linked to the tourism industry, but in the specific context of L’Hospitalet, thinking about the beach takes us back to the memory of a loss: the beach that L’Hospitalet sold to the city of Barcelona almost 100 years ago and that today is the Zona Franca, a beach where many residents of the shantytown neighborhoods of Gran Via Sur spent their days of leisure.
