Earth, Water, and Plant Fibers in Les Cabasses
4.7.24

First, accompanied by the artist and researcher Jocelyn Múñoz, we shaped the clay vessels that we will install on a plot of Les Cabasses to experiment with traditional and sustainable irrigation systems and see if they work efficiently in the context of Baix Llobregat.

After several days of modeling the vessels in the Pomezia space in La Florida, we went to Les Cabasses to fire them using the simple technique of lighting a fire in a hole dug in the ground and keeping it alive for several hours.

On the other hand, on the last Saturday of June, we met with the artisan Aleix Grifoll to weave lamps with different plant fibers that will be used to illuminate the Les Cabasses space.

And finally, we convened a meeting in Pomezia with residents of l’Hospitalet linked to the Xarxa de suport veïnal de la Florida to think together about the possibility of collectively cultivating a part of the farm.

All these actions are aimed at exploring the possibilities of reconnecting the city and those of us who inhabit it with its agro-metropolitan environment, with the natural and agricultural landscapes of the Llobregat delta, and to continue rethinking the metabolic relationships—the exchanges of matter and energy—that occur in this territory, as well as the economies, ecologies, and epistemologies that regulate them.

As always, it was a pleasure to be able to share these processes with all the people who have collaborated on them during these days 😉
