Silver Apples in Concert
10.3.08

Possibly one of the most (un)expected concerts of the year so far: tonight, Les Aus (we’re fans) and Silver Apples (or what’s left of them) are playing at the Apolo venue. On the Apolo’s website, they say this about them: “It’s been almost forty years since Silver Apples shaped the most surreal electronic pop in history. In the late, turbulent 60s, the duo explored a whole universe of electronic melodies and interstellar landscapes that laid the foundations for the most primitive punk and electronic pop that krautrock, no wave, and synth-pop later used as their hallmark.” Basically, they sound like a rather Martian mix of Los Brincos with Faust. The funny thing is that Silver Apples were a kind of electronic musicians before electronics existed, so at the time they had to manufacture a good part of the equipment they used, so, if you think about it, they also anticipated the DIY movement… Also playing is Daedalus.
