Still from ‘The City Is Ours (Urban Aesthetics)’
Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 PM in the
Institut Bellvitge
, we continue with the documentary film series.
The city won, the city
lost
. We will screen the film
The city is
ours (urban aesthetics)
, filmed by Tino Calabuig and Miguel Ángel Cóndor in 1974.
The film shows the processes of neighborhood struggle to achieve improvements in the living conditions of the residents of the neighborhoods of Orcasitas, Pozo del Tío Raimundo and Barrio del Pilar, neighborhoods built on the periphery of Madrid in the late 60s and early 70s. These neighborhoods share a very similar story to that of Bellvitge, so we hope that the discussion after the screening of the film can help us reflect on that historical moment when the democratic transition began, and on the evolution of our neighborhoods and social and neighborhood movements from the end of the Franco dictatorship to the present day.
We will be joined in the discussion by Anna Royo, activist, and the members of the
Obserbatori Metropolità de Barcelona
Ángela García Bernardos and Rubén Martínez.
The film series The city won, the city lost, is part of the work processes of the project
Espai 14-15
, is linked to the exhibition
Double authorization
by
Lola Lasurt
in the
Espai 13
of the
Fundació Joan Miró
within the framework of the series Preventive archeology curated by Oriol Fontdevila.
The city is ours (urban aesthetics) is part of the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, which has ceded the exhibition rights for this screening.
