Next Wednesday, June 26th at 7 PM, we will present the project

Bellvitge Live Role-Playing

in the chill out room of the
Bellvitge Library
.

With Bellvitge Live Role-Playing, we propose creating a live role-playing game about the 50-year history of the Bellvitge neighborhood in L’Hospitalet. This is a work process that we have started with the collaboration of the association  Necronomicon’s and is open to all those groups or individuals who want to participate.

The presentation aims to publicize the project to all those interested in the history of Bellvitge and/or role-playing games, and to invite them to participate in the creation and development of the game. We will present the narrative structure of the game and the characters that we have sketched out with the members of the Necronomicon’s association, we will talk -for those who do not know it- about the basic mechanics of live role-playing games and we will present the project’s wiki, which we hope will be a space and a tool that facilitates collective work.

The creation of a live role-playing game “based on real events” is a very complex undertaking and poses many difficulties, but this has the advantage that many people can participate with very diverse degrees of involvement: from contributing their testimony in the creation of characters, arguments and settings, through acting as non-player characters, in the production of the props, in the creation of the argument itself, to simply playing! (which is the most fun ;))

Role-playing allows us to construct multiple, decentralized and non-linear historiographical accounts (there are as many narratives as there are players and plays, isn’t that fantastic?), as well as to approach historical memory in a dialogical and experiential way, which is why we think it can be a useful tool when constructing non-hegemonic discourses about memory. But come on, we don’t know for sure: this is an experiment and that’s why it’s cooler 🙂

We’ll be waiting for you!
