Job insecurity may be one of the constituent conditions of the knowledge economy and the cultural industries in particular, often consented to (if not encouraged) by the workers themselves. It seems that job insecurity also affects academic teaching and research areas such as fellows (almost needless to say), assistant professors, associate professors, tenured professors, administrative and service staff, etc. at the University.
The Assemblea contra la Precarietat of the UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) presented LLuís Ferrer, rector of the university, on June 7 with the manifesto “La UAB: un bon lloc per treballar?” (The UAB: A good place to work?) to denounce the precarious employment situation in which many UAB workers find themselves.
