A few days ago, we received information about this project that will take place from this coming Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 7:00 PM, which is when it will be presented, and until January 10, 2009 in the exhibition hall of the Church of the University in Santiago de Compostela.

is a project of the Vice-Rectorate of Culture of the University of Santiago de Compostela, carried out within the framework of the
1st Edition of the Master in Art, Museology and Contemporary Criticism
.
Ponlle nome proposes, from a condition of hybrid, unfinished and to-be-filled space, the role of contemporary art as “generator of critical and participatory attitudes in the cultural life of a city.” One of the things that has most interested us about the proposal is its desire to establish alternative exhibition and pedagogical formats to the traditional ones through the direct participation of the public: “The intervention consists of the articulation of an open debate space, which invites reflection on the role of the public in current art and the importance of their participation in cultural policies.
For 17 days, the intervention will be open to the public during exhibition hours and will be the place for thematic debates proposed by the coordinators,

Daniel López Abel.
The workshops will be based on the concept of social networks and their influence on contemporary culture. They will present various ways of understanding collective creation from the perspective of free culture and copyleft or ‘new genre public art’, as they point out elsewhere “but they will also practically address the social and political implications that these entail when building spaces for critical citizenship.” In addition, the project constitutes in itself an action and a reflection that take into account the specific context in which they occur, the university, in order to rethink the relationships between this institution, the city and shared knowledge.
To register as a participant, it is only necessary to send an email to info@ponllenome.org, but you can also participate simply by passing through the intervention space at any time, from Tuesday to Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM and from 5 PM to 8:30 PM or on Saturdays and eves in the morning (from 11 AM to 2 PM). On Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons there will be debate sessions whose schedule you will find here. The intention of the organizers is to transfer the work categories of the physical space -which will be formalized on different supports during the development of the project- to the virtual space through a blog. Since, unfortunately, we cannot escape for a few days to Santiago de Compostela, we hope to participate in Ponlle nome_ making use of the ‘information superhighway’!.
