La Marmita is born, the community kitchen of La Florida
9.10.25

In the La Florida neighborhood (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat), La Marmita has been launched—a community-run, self-managed kitchen driven by the agroecological cooperative Keras Buti. The initiative has a clear goal: to ensure access to healthy, tasty, affordable, and locally sourced food for all neighbors, while strengthening community networks and caring for the planet.

Every day, La Marmita cooks nutritious and balanced stews made with organic, seasonal, and locally sourced products. The base is always vegetarian, with the option to add animal protein at a very low price. Meals can be picked up from Monday to Friday at Laurel 31 (Calle del Llorer 31, La Florida), between 1 PM and 3 PM.

The community kitchen that feeds the neighborhood.

The heart of La Marmita is its Thermo-pot, a container designed by the social enterprise Foodtopia. This technology is inspired by the ancient popular canteens of Pompeii and allows cooking between 90 and 150 daily rations efficiently, economically, and with a minimal ecological footprint. It’s a tool that recovers the collective wisdom of shared cooking and adapts it to the needs of the eco-social transition we desire.

Fair prices, strong community.

La Marmita offers different subscription plans so that each person can find the formula that best suits their needs:

2 meals per week: €20 per month

3 meals per week: €30 per month

5 meals per week: €50 per month

10 meals per week: €70 per month

The cost of each meal is between €2 and €2.5, making healthy and balanced food possible at very accessible prices. The income is used entirely to guarantee the sustainability of the project and the maintenance of community work.

More than just food

La Marmita is food and also a community organized for food sovereignty. It not only offers nutritious dishes but also promotes spaces for meeting, creation, and collective organization, where neighbors can get involved in the project.

Keras Buti, the consumer cooperative initially launched by LaFundició and Lacho Baji Cali, supplies La Marmita with organic products grown on the Les Cabasses farm, within the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park.

Thus, the act of eating is transformed into a collective gesture of care, solidarity, and resistance to the industrialized food model.
