Let’s Paint TV
25.5.07

Cory Arcangel said in this post that the internet has the quality of placing artistic and non-artistic products on a plane of contextual equality. Surely this proposition should be qualified a lot, although it is true, as Cory says, that on YouTube there is no visual difference between the presentation of a video of a dog skateboarding and the work of the coolest artist on the scene. Cory illustrated this statement with a few examples, among which the program Le’ts paint & exercise TV by John Kilduff caught our attention. Basically, what he does is paint, run on a treadmill, mix drinks, and take calls from viewers while performing other tasks, along with a variety of guests. We could elaborate quite a bit on the television creation because it brings together several ingredients that we find attractive… but it is better that everyone gets their own idea. Here is an article from the ‘Art & Books’ section of the LA Weekly that sheds light on a few facets of the program, especially focusing on the pictorial aspect! Since I didn’t know very well which chapter to put, I decided to upload the last part of the last chapter, which also features a drone music group on set! uhm… welcome to the multitasking world.
