Les Juntes—Awarded at the World Habitat Awards!
20.1.26

In the final phase of the competition, which received 400 proposals, we were selected among 25 innovative housing solutions, recognizing our work to guarantee the right to decent and accessible housing through community organization and collective ownership.

Les Juntes’ model departs from welfare approaches and considers people as active subjects in exercising the right to housing, fostering community ties and forming part of a neighborhood network of mutual support that also works to address the violation of other rights such as the right to food sovereignty, culture, or the free movement of people.

Instead of building, Les Juntes recovers already-built apartments, owned by banks and investment funds, to cooperativize their use. Since 2023, the cooperative has recovered eight homes, guaranteeing a home for 30 people, 10 of whom are minors, and currently has 50 members.

Among its future objectives is the creation of a Community Land Fund, which will ensure that homes remain under collective ownership and do not return to the speculative market.

Les Juntes is an initiative promoted by LaFundició, in collaboration with the La Dinamo Foundation and with the support of La Florida s’aveïna, the urban commonality of the La Florida neighborhood, integrated, among other entities, by the AViV La Florida.
