Pedagogical Factory
is an exhibition organized by The Stockyard Institut at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago. In fact, more than an exhibition, it is, as they say, an open demonstration of ideas and experimentations that will take place in and around a public laboratory located in the art center. The approach and program of activities (which is run by AREA Chicago Art/Research/Education/Activist) is quite extensive and substantial… so we refer you to the respective websites for you to investigate. In any case, we would like to highlight the three points that the project proposes to explore critically:
– The factories of today: How do economic changes affect the nature of work and education? Are cities and schools the new factories?
– How we have learned: Exploring the traditions of critical and radical education.
– Strategies for an ‘educated’ city: An examination of the tools, experiments, methods, and approaches to learning, citizen knowledge, and collective action.
Again, thank you for the link to Javier Rodrigo, who has been working hard gathering information on critical educational practices at Documenta 12 (apparently, the educational project of the macro-event is not a bluff…).
