Workshops to Think about the Future Archive of the Informal City and the Shanty Towns of L’Hospitalet
20.11.15

Poster Doing things with documents

How to organize an archive that responds to the characteristics of the informal city, how to think about an archive from the shanty town? This is the question that articulates these public workshops to think about the future archive of the informal city of L’Hospitalet, which includes the memory of the shanty towns of Gran Via Sud, Can Rigal and other settlements. We invite you to join us and participate in this collective reflection process. Come along!

The following guests will participate in the workshops:
Centre d’Estudis de L’Hospitalet
, Òscar Casasayas (historian and member of Grup Pas a Pas, a collective of historians linked to the recovery of the memory of the shanty towns of Barcelona), Oriol Granados (historian, member of
Centre d’Estudis de Montjuïc
(CEM) and the Comissió ciutadana per la recuperació de la memòria dels barris de barraques de Barcelona), Marià Hispano (archivist responsible, among many others, for the cataloging of the exhibition archive of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies),
Núria Ricart
(professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UB and one of the promoters of the Memory of the Women’s Prison of Les Corts project), Lachó Bají Calí (cultural association based in Gornal), Jorge Blasco (responsible for the project

Culturas de Archivo

), Mercè Tatjer (historian, urban geographer and member of the Comissió ciutadana per la recuperació de la memòria dels barris de barraques de Barcelona) and, above all, neighbors of the old shanty towns of L’Hospitalet. During each of the sessions we will try to organize a conversation where expert knowledge can coexist and hybridize with the experience of the testimonies themselves, bearers of the living memory of the informal city.

This activity is part of the exhibition
