Tomorrow the
I Conference on Critical Cultural Production in Current Artistic and Educational Practice
begins, co-organized by the
MUSAC
and
La Casa Encendida
. In parallel, the
Meeting of Education Professionals in Museums and Contemporary Art Centers
will take place. The conference is divided into two parts, the first taking place from June 18 to 20 at MUSAC (León) and a second at La Casa Encendida (Madrid) from November 26 to 28 of this year, in which we will participate with Oriol Fontdevila presenting
Zona Intrusa 3
, but we’ll talk about that then.
The conference looks interesting and we think it’s right to support the team of the
Department of Education and Cultural Action
(DEAC) of MUSAC for their critical work, from theory and practice, against the role that education plays and can play in the institutional framework of art. We copy and paste a brief fragment of the presentation text of the conference:
“In these first MUSAC-LCE conferences, Critical Cultural Production in Current Artistic and Educational Practice, we want to reflect on work processes that activate learning in all areas of creation: in the artistic product or process, in curatorial and exhibition work, and in the context of communities and audiences.
The first sessions of the conference, which will take place at MUSAC on June 18, 19 and 20, aim to approach new collaborative approaches in pedagogical and artistic processes marked by the intention of dialogue and the horizontality of roles, as well as to question the exhibition device itself and its mechanisms for the activation of educational action.
The second part of the conference, at La Casa Encendida, will focus “on projects expanded outside museums. Special attention will be paid to artistic projects and the connection between School and Art” and that’s where we come in.
As we won’t be able to be in León these days 🙁 we will follow the conference through the museum’s streaming and the Twitter of some colleagues (the guys from
TRANSDUCTORES
and Teresa Marín from
la colectiva lab
) who will attend and who, according to what they tell us, have proposed to report what happens, which is very appreciated.
