On July 6th and 7th we will be at the
CosmoCaixa
in Barcelona participating in the international conference
Childhood Public Space: A Dialogue Between Art, Education, and Urban Space
organized by the
Associació de Mestres Rosa Sensat
and the collective
Urbanitas-Berlin Barcelona
.

The conference aims to «think about the city in relation to the culture of childhood. The city as a social, material, and cultural space ». Maria Muñoz Duyos, coordinator of the conference, writes that « Access to the public space of cities, the street, the neighborhood, the playgrounds, allows children to experience the nature of ephemeral but significant relationships, the sense of community and collectivity. From access to learning spaces and for culture, children participate in the social life of cities ». We would almost dare to say that this seems more like a wish than a reality, but well, it is something that we will surely have the opportunity to discuss during the conference ;).

Our participation will be twofold: on the one hand, on Saturday, July 6 we will be on a panel entitled « Participatory Processes», a question as generic as it is controversial, which we will try to debate with
César Muñoz
,
Bia Goulart
,
Straddle3
,
Les Salonnières
,
Pau Faus,

and with the attendees; and on Sunday, July 7, when we will be leading a workshop-walk from Bellvitge to Gornal in the company of some children from the neighborhood.

This last workshop-walk is related to a process of work and reflection that we hope to launch soon on urban planning and the ways in which children inhabit and appropriate (or not) the city; and which we have provisionally called
Anti-modulor
.
