Tomorrow, Saturday, June 16, from 11 in the morning until night, the “Grand Opening” of
AureaSocial
will take place.
AureaSocial is defined as «a self-managed and open space to develop public services in the long term. Especially in the field of free education and holistic health, in addition to the generation of collective processes that work to cover the diverse needs of people, thus promoting collective empowerment and mutual support, putting into practice the self-management of our lives in different areas such as housing, food, the economy… ».
During the opening, the projects that are already underway in the AureaSocial space will be presented, and there will be a flurry of activities, workshops, live music, popular food, and a surprise or two.
From LaFundició and in collaboration with Jess Espinoza from the space Rosa Negra, we have been contacting various groups, projects, and people from the city of Barcelona and the metropolitan area, linked to collective and autonomous textile and graphic creation practices and experiences; with the aim of exploring the interest and possibilities of forming a group with these concerns in the AureaSocial space.
During the opening party, we propose sharing a morning of “sewing a plein air” in the park in front of the Sagrada Família in Plaça Pablo Neruda (Aragó street, corner with Marina); we will bring sewing machines and fabrics and portray, document, and record the party and what is happening with needle and thread. We invite you to join us, come along!
