Fem Cabasses
25.9.20

On October 9th and 10th (Friday and Saturday respectively) from 10 AM to 6 PM, we will learn with the artisan Mònica Guilera how to make a Catalan basket with wicker and cane.

The workshop will take place at
l’Hort de l’Eriçó
(at the Cal Sans farmhouse, within the Les Cabasses area in the
Parc Agrari del Llobregat
), which is the agroecological supplier of the
Keras Buti cooperative
. To find out how to get there, please contact us.

The number of places is limited to 10 people and we require prior registration to prepare the necessary materials. To register, send an email to:
hola@lafundicio.net

The workshop is free, for this reason the baskets produced during it will be given to the Keras Buti consumer cooperative for their use in the transport of agroecological fruits and vegetables.

Beyond recovering artisan techniques for making baskets or caves, we wonder what we can learn from the landscapes, communities, and economies in which these techniques appeared and were used. From LaFundició and Keras Buti, we continue to promote a practice and research group in this regard. If you are interested in being part of it, tell us in your registration!

What are the connections between material production and cultural practices? Can we reconnect the city with knowledge linked to rurality? L’Hospitalet is located in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, right on the border with the Parc Agrari del Llobregat. In fact, L’Hospitalet was urbanized on cultivated fields; more specifically, neighborhoods such as Bellvitge or el Gornal were built in dates as recent as the 60s and 70s on the fields of the marina, in continuity with the Llobregat delta. This agricultural landscape and its ecosystem have been disfigured by the construction of large infrastructures (from the port of Barcelona to the Prat airport, passing through the highways that connect the entire territory). Can we think of this territory, as a whole, by making a wicker basket?
