Expectations and Fictions, a Televised Debate Open to the Public
27.1.14

Expectatives i ficcions
proposes a televised debate around the role of history and tourism in the construction of imaginaries and narratives of the present. These are two themes addressed by
Lúa Coderch
as part of a broader reflection on the construction of the historical present in her exhibition

La muntanya màgica

in the
Espai 13
of the
Fundación Joan Miró
.

You can attend and participate in the debate as an audience member or watch it live on channel 37 of the DTT in Barcelona and Maresme, or watch it via streaming at http://latele.cat/latele-en-directe.

Some questions we propose to debate with Lúa Coderch, visual artist; Oriol Fontdevila, art critic; Dolors Marín, PhD in Contemporary History; and Daniele Porretta, PhD in Theory and History of Architecture, could be: How do the accounts of past events, their remembrance or oblivion, condition our present? What relationships are there between historiography and politics? And between history and fiction? How does the experience of tourism affect the lives of the people who inhabit the city? How do tourist expectations affect the image that the city constructs and projects of itself?

The debate will be presented by LaFundició and broadcast on DTT by
LaTele
and streaming by
Neokinok.tv
.

Expectatives i ficcions takes place within the framework of our project Espai 14-15, which is part of the exhibition cycle
Arqueología preventiva
, curated by Oriol Fontdevila in Espai 13 of the Fundació Joan Miró.
