In her younger years, Tracy already saw it coming
We’re not the ones saying it; the artist herself is, as you can read in this article in The Guardian. And the truth is, it does seem a bit stupid to spend 4 million pounds (which is a lot of euros) on buying a factory and returning it to its original state, with the intention of stopping the rampant gentrification process that east London has suffered, in large part due to the success of the Young British Artists who settled there in the late 80s (among whom was Tracy Emin herself). Of course… stranger things have been seen in the relationship between artists and urban “elitization” processes. On the other hand, this news raises a question for us whose answer we find unfathomable: how much money has Tracy Emin earned, for goodness sake?!
