Last Monday, a new issue of the magazine ‘Des de ja’ was presented at the Centre Municipal Ana Díaz Rico. The magazine is edited by the Laboratori Editorial Des dels blocs, made up of residents of La Florida and L’Hospitalet. We would like to thank all the people and collectives who have contributed to this issue for their input and to congratulate them.
As we always say, ‘Des de ja’ is a neighborhood magazine made in La Florida for the world. It’s important to highlight this: in ‘Des de ja’ we want to explain things that happen in the neighborhood, from the neighborhood’s perspective, but also to explain what’s happening beyond the neighborhood and how it affects us.
As Mercè Duch—a regular contributor to the magazine and a member of LH with the Palestinian People—said during the presentation, the forms of oppression and violence suffered in Gaza and La Florida, although obviously different in degree and form, are connected, as they are the result of the same global historical processes.
At the same time, everywhere we find different expressions of the same impulse of resistance and the same will to build alternatives to a greedy, predatory system at war with life.
Here and there, local manifestations occur as a result of global tectonic movements. Paying attention to what happens in La Florida can help us better understand what is happening in the world—to change it. In this sense, ‘Des de ja’ is, as much as a neighborhood magazine, an ‘inter-neighborhood’ magazine.
We will soon publish the version of this issue on archive.org, which, for now, you can get in its fantastic print edition at the Pomezia space and the Ana Díaz Rico Municipal Center.
