Drift through the Bellvitge Festival
2.9.12

Next Saturday, September 8, the Bellvitge Festival (L’Hospitalet) begins. For years, the festivals have been one of the most significant social and cultural manifestations of the neighborhood, to such an extent that, for various reasons, they condition the cultural life of Bellvitge during the rest of the year.

The functioning of the Bellvitge festivals -how they are managed and organized and what social function they fulfill- is perfectly naturalized, to such an extent that very rarely is it questioned why they are in a certain way and not another.

The association
CandeL’Hart
invites us to join them on a drift through the festival, a walk without a fixed course during which to observe, analyze and discuss how popular festivals are built, how we build them and how we want to build them, and specifically the Bellvitge festival. On this walk we will be accompanied by the anthropologist
Manuel Delgado
, known for his studies and reflections on the cultural and political uses of public space.

If you want to join the drift through the festival, we will meet at 8:00 PM in front of the Bellvitge Cultural Center, in the Plaça de la Cultura, 1/Avda. Amèrica, 69 (Bellvitge stop on metro line 1). To better calculate how many people we will be, you can send a message to the email address candelhart@gmail.com. See you there!

Ah! And on  Saturday, September 15 we will continue with a second daytime drift with Sitesize as special guests. These drifts are part of a long-term process of mapping culture in the Bellvitge neighborhood, which is proposed as one of the actions in this context of

Classroom adrift 2012
