Next Friday, May 25th from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the
Cosir i Xerrar
collective invites you to share a learning space at the Can Mas Civic Center (Ripollet) with María Isabel Martínez and José Martínez, who will teach us how to make genuine DIY espardenyes by hand. You only need to bring the necessary materials: wire, hemp thread -the rope used for packaging- and a needle with a thickness appropriate to the thread you are going to use.
The Cosir i Xerrar collective was formed around 2010 when we promoted in the Can Mas Civic Center -which is mainly the headquarters of the Can Mas Neighbors Association– and within the framework of the
Open-roulotte
project, a self-learning space dedicated to sewing and textiles; Cosir i Xerrar is a space open to anyone’s participation and in which each person shares their knowledge with others -as is the case of María Isabel and José, neighbors of the neighborhood-; our proposal is to contribute to generating and experimenting with community management dynamics of material resources and knowledge, intertwined with other spaces of textile and social creation in which we will soon begin to work -but this is another story about which, if you are interested, you can read more here sooner rather than later-.
For those of you coming from Barcelona, the best combination, as far as we know, is to take bus 622 at Sagrera (metro L1 and L5) and get off at the last stop. If you come, we’ll see you on Friday!
