of L´Hospitalet, the documentary short films
My Derry
by Marta Clarà and
Bellvitge, Bellvitge!
directed by Julián Álvarez, within the documentary film series organized by the

as part of the

DocuEspaiDer

docufiction workshop.

My Derry narrates the experiences and feelings of a restless young woman from the Catholic city of Derry, in Ireland, who dedicates herself to her studies and her passion for typical Irish dance. ¡Bellvitge, Bellvitge! is one of the first videographic experiences with a documentary structure made in Spain with one of the first portable video equipment (the mythical Portapack from Sony) existing in Barcelona. The film is structured around a car tour of the neighborhood, and includes the testimony of the municipal architect Cosme Grifell, the historical-critical considerations of the neighbor R. Fernández Jurado (one of the first residents of Bellvitge) and the musical interventions of the then very young flamenco singer Ginesa Ortega (12 years old) accompanied on guitar by Manolito. Made with the participation of the young members of the Image Workshop of the Instituto N. Bellvitge-3 between 1977 and 1978, it obtained a special mention in the
Barcelona Film Week
in 1980.
