This Thursday, January 17, starting at 6 p.m., as part of the activation program for the exhibition
City Interpretation Center from the Barraca: Can Pi, La Bomba, La Cadena, La Sangonera
, we invite you to chat with
Jorge Blasco
, writer, independent researcher, and amateur archivist.
Jorge has assisted us in conceiving an archive for the CICdB that aligns with the operations and practices specific to the informal city, and he has helped us rethink the archive as a device of power.
As he himself aptly puts it, at stake in all of this is the possibility of building a community archive, that is, one that serves the community to produce its own meaning: «We would have to rethink the relationships between radical amateurism and professionalism in the territory of the archive, since this bipolar relationship may be jeopardizing skills, development possibilities, and the sharing of knowledge among individuals who, due to hyper-specialization, are distant.»
In addition, we will present two new issues—two!—of the CICdB newsletters. More information here, on this blog.
