Athletic Automaton

Awesome video!

Today we return to our facet of “music critics”, which we have little exploited although it amuses and entertains us a lot. We dare to affirm here that Lightning Bolt and Arab On Radar are the two coolest groups of what we have of century; yes sir, not Radiohead or anything. While Lightning Bolt are still active and providing us with moments as “intense” and “euphoric” as this, Arab On Radar (AOR), more given to bad vibes (although without losing the sense of humor) seemed to have disappeared completely after their dissolution in 2002.

But nothing is further from the truth, it turns out that Steven Mattos has formed with Pat Crump (ex Pellum 123) a duo called Athletic Automaton. To date they have signed only a couple of LPs, a split with Made in Mexico (band of the other guitarist of the AOR) and a half album with AIDS Wolf -some youngsters from Montreal that, we are going to stop at the same place again, owe a good part of their sound to Arab On Radar-; the last LP of Athletic Automaton: “A journey through roman’s empire“, is a kind of conceptual record of paste published in 2007 by the (mythical) label Skingraft Records in the USA and, do not miss it, Trece Grabaciones in Spain. Let’s see if it falls the breva and someone dares to bring them around here and so we can appreciate closely the look basketball player 70s that look live, as you can see in the video above.
