{"id":5720,"date":"2024-04-18T09:27:47","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T09:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lafundicio.net\/noticia\/el-cicdb-se-va-de-mercadillo\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T21:05:42","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T21:05:42","slug":"el-cicdb-se-va-de-mercadillo","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/lafundicio.net\/en\/noticia\/el-cicdb-se-va-de-mercadillo\/","title":{"rendered":"The CICdB is Going to the Flea Market!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last Friday, we set up our stall at the <strong>Bellvitge flea market<\/strong>, where we displayed part of the archive, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/@lafundici_?query=cicdb\">newsletters<\/a> published by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lafundicio.net\/cicdb\/\">CICdB<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Pr\u00f3ximo a las <strong>barracas <\/strong>de la Bomba se encontraba <strong>Can Pi<\/strong>. Parte importante de la actividad econ\u00f3mica en esta barriada era el procesamiento de residuos, una actividad que, desde principios del s. XX se desarrollaba en los <strong>sitiales <\/strong>de Santa Eul\u00e0lia, Collblanc o la Torrassa.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>sitiales<\/strong> were courtyards where mainly women and children selected and separated the waste transported by cart by the <em>escombriaires<\/em> from Barcelona. All this happened long before garbage collection was granted to large companies. <\/p>\n\n<p>Precisely on Friday, <strong>Fina<\/strong>, a resident of Santa Eul\u00e0lia who had worked in one of these sitiales, came to our stall. Stories like Fina&#8217;s tell us a part of the city&#8217;s history that exemplifies a type of relationship between the <g id=\"gid_1\">center and the peripheries<\/g>: what is considered residual is expelled to the &#8220;outside.&#8221; In this way, the sitiales functioned as a drain in which waste was transformed to reintroduce it into the urban metabolism.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The next dates we will set up the stall at the Bellvitge flea market are:<strong> May 3, June 7, and July 5<\/strong>.
