This is because many people thought that Elgg.net ‘was’ <g id="gid_3">Elgg</g>. However, while Elgg is an open-source network framework (what they’ve been calling social software) that anyone can install on their own servers, Elgg.net is/was strictly a social network dedicated to education, so its managers, to avoid confusion, decided to rename the network as EduSpaces.net.
The truth is that we have just discovered EduSpaces.net (which has the subtitle e-learning 2.0) and, from the outset, the portal has that uncool look so common in the educational field; I allow myself this frivolity because then I see things like ‘I like/I don’t like’ in each user’s profile. In each user’s “eduspace” there is the city of residence, interests and main skills. Like everything on web 2.0, EduSpaces.net works through <g id="gid_1">tags</g>, which means that user profiles are plagued with the most diverse trendy terms in the (Anglo-Saxon) educational field: <g id="gid_2">social networking</g>, <g id="gid_3">learning design</g>, <g id="gid_4">civilian empowerment</g>… we would have to carefully examine how they translate into practice.<x id="gid_5"></x>For now it seems that the portal is starting up, not much content is seen in the spaces and, although the users are considerably numerous, they do not seem very, very active. We will wait and see and maybe in a few weeks we will open our EduSpace of La
Fundició
… although I don’t know… maybe it would be better to do it the rough way and open a MySpace…

Technorati Tags: e-learning, education, network, social, web2.0

["post-5129","noticia","type-noticia","status-publish","hentry
["GET
