The first
\n guifilab Sant Boi<\/strong>
\n<\/em> will take place next Thursday, May 10th at 7:00 PM<\/strong> at the
\n Ateneu Santboi\u00e0<\/a>
\n<\/strong>. This meeting, which we are promoting as members of the Plataforma Ateneu Santboi\u00e0<\/g>, will bring together a group of people from Sant Boi and different municipalities of the Baix Llobregat<\/g> region who participate in the development of the guifi.net<\/g> network. As explained on the project’s website, guifi.net is “an open, free, and neutral telecommunications network that is structured based on an interconnection agreement where each node, when connected, extends the network and obtains connectivity.”<\/g> In this way, guifi.net users<\/x> (whether individuals, organizations, or institutions) are also its builders; thus, the network is owned by all those who are part of it. guifi.net is an exciting project of autonomy and technological self-management, an example of how collective intelligence can be organized in decentralized networks to provide wealth and manage technological resources for common use. <\/p>\n

The guifilab Sant Boi<\/em> will be a meeting-work session between people and groups of people who have been participating and collaborating in the network separately until now, so the event is proposed as an opportunity to see how the network can be strengthened and extended to Sant Boi and if the Ateneu Santboi\u00e0 can be a regular point of reference, meeting, and work for the users\/builders of the network.<\/p>\n

The initiative arises from a first experience within the framework of the
\n Aula a la deriva<\/strong>
\n<\/em> program: a presentation and practical workshop of the network during which we installed a node in the Ateneu (more information here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
