Once upon a time in Prat de la Manta
30.6.26

Now that the school year is ending is a good moment to share the process we’ve carried out this year with the third-grade children at Prat de la Manta school. This year we’ve explored ways of representing the passage of time from seed to harvest, from birth to memory, from the fields to L’Hospitalet.

We’ve explored different ways of organizing time: school calendars, farmers’ almanacs, musical rhythms, and Inca quipus.

We’ve rooted time and food by tracing the paths our favorite dishes have followed from the origins of the seed to the plate, and we’ve launched a Seed Library that crosses borders, which you’ll find in the school lobby.

With the seed library up and running, we went to observe how time passes in the agricultural park. And once we saw the crops we have right next to the neighborhood, we designed and built two planter modules where some of the seeds we collected are already starting to germinate: avocados, tangerines, cherimoyas, apples, and marvel-of-Peru flowers.

Now all we need is sun, water, and time…
