Exploring and practicing the city from the perspective of play and the experience of childhood opens the way to intervene in urban spaces as places to weave collaborative relationships and neighborhood. Activating spaces where the task of taking care of life is sustained collectively and from which we reach out to the diversity of experiences that inhabit them.
The adventure playgrounds that emerged in the United Kingdom after the bombings of World War II are a reference point. These spaces playgrounds are traditionally often built by the children themselves, offering an environment which is open to a constant process of continuous transformation. Seen from the adult point of view these places seem messy and unfinished but for the children who use them the space is able to respond and adapt to their play, meaning the playground physically changes on a daily basis and is very rarely boring or short of new stimuli.
