The Gornal high school, in the Gornal district of L’Hospitalet, is located next to the train tracks that run through the city like a scar. It is the only public school left in the neighborhood and most of the students are Rroma. For years, we have been working with the educational community and the Lacho Baji Cali association to explore different ways of rromanizing the school, that is, bringing the Rroma cosmologies into the core of the educational project. .
With these communities we carry out collective processes of research and creation around the collection and use of vegetable fibers such as cane, wicker or palm heart for the development of utensils and sustainable constructions, linking these practices to rural ways of life. These types of artisan knowledge are traditionally associated with Rroma communities and are currently at risk of extinction.
